Imagine FX Cover and Workshop!

More Gigantic news!
Gigantic is on the cover of an upcoming issue of the digital art magazine Imagine FX. The cover was dual painted by Devon and me.  It was an interesting process. I've never actually collaborated with someone on a piece of artwork but it was pretty fun, so I see no reason not to do more art-collaborations in the future! Emily and I have painted on each others paintings from time to time, and we've also helped each other out with drawings but those are more like un-official collaborations.

Anyways here's the cover! It definitely exceeded the quota for the number of characters on an IFX cover! (Usually they just have one character per cover.)

After the issue is actually out I'll get permission to post some process stuff and post the cover without the text.

There's also a "how we design a hero on Gigantic" workshop in the issue. I tried to put into words the interesting and collaborative design process at Motiga, using the elite sniper, Imani, as an example. I'd love to elaborate on this further but for now this is a nice peek into our process! Here's a really lo-res pic of that workshop... gotta get the issue if you want to read it!

Sketching from the Imagination

Just a quick heads up, I'm featured in a new book coming out in October from 3D Total. It's called sketching from the Imagination and it looks super cool!

Lands and Legends Kickstarter

I wanted to bring your attention to a new book that's up for funding via Kickstarter.

At this years Gen Con an art fan by the name of Mike Phifer approched our table and told us about his book project. Mike and his brother are trying to put together an art book, but not just a random assortment of fantasy art, rather, a themed book about some of the old stories and mythology that feeds so much of genre art.

I was instantly impressed by the artists that he already had signed on. Prominent artists like James Gurney, Donato Giancola, and Todd Lockwood! Also a bunch of my friends and colleagues have signed on. Emily and I are also contributing to the book. Emily's painting "The Lady of the Lake," and I'm painting "The Green Man."

So if you're a fan of fantasy, mythology and art, please contribute to the book! Mike's promo video might not be very flashy but the book itself will be well made and printed. (He showed us an example of a very well designed book he worked on before this project.)

Sketchbook and Greeting Cards on Sale!

I have two items for sale in Emily's Etsy shop: "Fabled Earth Art." I've been meaning to start my own shop or have a spot on my site to sell stuff but since I'm really lazy about all things internets, Emily finally got me to do it.

The other item of mine we put up in her Etsy store is a greeting card I designed years back. I still like the painting and the message. Without to much effort I was able to capture some warm feelings with a simple image. (which can sometimes be the hardest part of being an illustrator!) There's more pictures, including the interior message HERE on her shop. We're selling both single cards and a pack of 10.
